Mette Grøngaard is a Danish visual artist and designer whose work is rooted in a deep sensitivity to the natural world. With a focus on the relationship between humans and nature, she creates poetic, illustrative works that explore the sensory language of nature and our potential for reconnection.
Grøngaard holds an MA in Graphic Design, and is also a certified instructor in nature-based mindfulness therapy. Based in her studio by the sea in Copenhagen, she draws inspiration from her upbringing in a small village on the Danish west coast — a landscape that continues to shape her artistic voice.
Grøngaard’s artworks arise from moments of quiet presence, where the thinking mind steps back and the senses lead. Her process is informed by her nature-therapeutic practice and her deep attention to atmosphere, form, and material. Working with watercolor, ink, and pastel, she brings together the real and the abstract, the graphic and the ethereal. Her feminine color palette reflects nature’s dual character — the soft and the wild, the beautiful and the raw — creating works that invite stillness, contemplation, and deep resonance.
At the core of her practice lies a belief that reconnecting with nature can shift our perspective — reminding us that we are part of, not separate from, the living world. This awareness fosters empathy, presence, and a deeper sense of responsibility for the ways we shape our lives and societies.
She has exhibited in a range of galleries, and her artworks are held in private collections in Denmark and abroad, as well as by international Danish corporations. Her work has also been featured in respected Danish and international art and design publications.
